The Excelsior Cornet Band is now offering a very special Living History educational program for schools and historical organizations. Entitled MUSIC AND MUSKET, this interdisciplinary program illustrates the vital role that music played in military life during the Civil War. Bandleader and noted instrument collector Jeff Stockham brings the sights and sounds of the conflict to your classes and audiences using rare original instruments and artifacts from the 1861-1865 period to perform examples of the bugle, drum, fife, and brass band music that was so essential to the everyday life of the Civil War soldier. Combining American history and music, this unique presentation is now available to schools and organizations across the northeastern United States.
